My Sweet Pad

So! An often-ignored aspect of being part of a Kingdom or Faction is the ability to have a house (scroll to the bottom) depending on their rank. I haven't seen many people put up info about it, but I'm sure a lot of you have tons of ideas on your character's sweet pad, so put them here! You can even link to this post in your profile later as these descriptions can be 100% canon!

Ky has a nice house in the Imperial City, filled with old but well-polished furniture. Only thing notable is a MASSIVE collection of tea cups.

But to be frank - the only person that's there regularly is a housekeeper named Bernard, Ky prefers to stay in the barracks with his men, only using his home for business.

Avshar settled for an apartment in the city. His apartment is modestly furnished in the nomad style, with cushions instead of chairs and low tables. No decorations whatsoever. The back room, which he always keeps locked, contains an altar to Skotos complete with elaborate wall frescos of Skotos in his various incarnations defeating the forces of light. He also has a work office, as even a man like him can't entirely ignore the bureaucracy.

See that top panel there? That's the Armstrong family mansion. It can comfortably house a battalion of soldiers with a tank. It is furnished and maintained in the way that only Old Money can approach a mansion.

Olivier doesn't live there unless she's in the capital, though - normally she's at Briggs, sleeping in the barracks like the other soldiers, and she's rarely in the capital.

Due to the nature of her work with Shin'i, Haruna spends a lot of time on the road, but she does have a small apartment that she rents somewhere in western Gwaych. It's very disorganized, very lived-in (considering how little living happens there), and covered in a wide variety of stuffed animals, from a variety of places.

Waka's Manor is a good distance away from Sawa's capital, hidden amidst a grove of Ginko trees with a large pond full of Koi and waterlilies. It's built in the traditional Sawan manner with peaked roofs and interlocking joints and is about a couple centuries old. The former owners are unknown, in fact, far as anyone knows, Waka has always lived there. The only changes made to it is the installation of abstract stain glass windows, the better to thwart people peeping in.

The interior is minimal, with reed mats, lacquer decorative items, and in a back room an elaborate shrine to the Sun Goddess that takes up the entire space. Occasionally one sees sculptures of attractive women with wings on their head.

Waka is rarely in, and almost never accept visitors.

Bruce lives in Wayne Manor, obviously. It's on the outskirts of the city and is lavishly decorated in every way money can buy. It's also barely lived in and mostly empty. The only people who ever really go there are Bruce himself and his butler, Alfred. There are also rumors of an elaborate cave system under the mansion, but of course there is no way to get to them from the mansion. No sir, no hidden passages or caverns full of elaborate crime fighting equipment.

Want to know what Assassin's home is like? Wait for Mitsunari to post, then look there! That is where she is living. Mitsunari can keep it tidy for her like a good waifu.

In the FUTURE YEAR OF 1743, Shiki lives alone in a one-room apartment that looks like nobody lives in it. The walls are bare, the only real furniture a plain bed. She doesn't even keep the door locked - what would be the point?

Takumi has an apartment fairly near Haruna's of a similar size and quality. He likes to put on a very mature vibe, so he keeps lots of books about philosophy and poetry, along with tasteful decorations in the form of landscape paintings and wall scrolls of poetry.

Mostly, though, he lives in hotels.

Katina has a small house of her own in Caemos. It is in fact actually a bit small for her rank - she saved money that she would have spent on it to pay for repairs on her parents' house. Despite that, it's quite comfortable, with lots of practical, comfortable, if sometimes poorly-matched furniture. The yard is large enough for Katina to set up a training dummy when she doesn't want to head out to the city's training grounds, and the interior is largely decorated with medals, weapons, armor, etc.

It tends to get a bit messy if hired help hasn't been around, because Katina doesn't spend enough time to bother cleaning up whatever she leaves laying around. The kitchen is, however, well-stocked with cooking equipment and non-perishable goods like salt and spices.

Indiana Jones enjoys a permanent room at the University, but also maintains his father's cabin in Galumond. His university room is extremely messy and overcrowded, but Indy finds everything he needs easily, suggesting the mess is his weird organization system. One can find an artifact hidden among the junk.

His father's cabin is modest, about four rooms and a basement, with a vast library in the basement. Everything is in bad shape due to neglect and is covered in dust.

After his father and mother's falling out, a new building aside from Budehuc was built to house the Queen and the Prince's apartments. It's not quite a castle, but it's certainly grand enough to have cost a fair bit of money. They call it Silesia House after his mother's original family name. The Queen still lives there now.

Since leaving his home, Levin's room has gone untouched as he makes a point of letting his mother know he is still alive with a present on her birthday every year. The room is filled with a variety of items reflecting his eclectic hobbies, including stacks of magic tomes, stacks of tomes and treatises pondering political topics, a collection of flutes, panpipes and other random assorted wind instruments, paintings of dragons, some archery and riding equipment, and some walking staffs. It is decorated in green and white. Painted on his ceiling is this mark.

Levin's other rooms included a private bath, an entertaining room, and a studio.

Thomas lives in budehuc castle as listed in the faction page. Instead of the royal bedrooms, he opted to take over the room that was traditionally the Butler's, bedroom with a simple canopy and a fantastic view of the lake. It opens up to a fair-sized study and is located right next to the library. Both rooms are overflowing with carts and books while the Desk and bed are left tidy as a pin.

Both rooms have beautiful Karayan rugs, and the study includes two antique plate armor carrying the Nameless State Banner, done by some servants hasty attempts to give the study a more courtly look.

Dakki is the mistress of Chuuou, a Rank 3 member of the Imperial Guard, so she lives extravagantly in a mansion in the Imperial City. Her personal wing of the mansion, decorated entirely in pink, is large enough to be considered its own mansion. She uses the large walled grounds for her parties and "sporting events," in which wild animals are brought in to fight soldiers for the amusement (horror?) of her guests.

Mitsunari lives in a suite of rooms in Jurakutei Palace, located just outside the center of Poennon, which I'm loosely basing on Osaka Castle. It was designed by a previous king of Sawa as an extremely well defended anti-siege castle capable of sheltering most of Poennon's population in the event of an attack. Now that things are more peaceful in Dagaria, most of the rooms have been dedicated to administrative functions and storage. Mitsunari's rooms aren't particularly lavish, but they're packed with stuff - books, half-empty teacups, official documents, random artwork he's collected, flowers he keeps forgetting to water, etc. He tends to fall asleep in his equally cluttered office.

Jade's adoptive family owns a large manor in the Imperial City, but he rarely spends any time there. He prefers the "bachelor pad" apartment attached to his lab, and it's not unusual to see a pot of curry simmering on a bunsen burner alongside whatever experiment he's working on. He doesn't entertain visitors often if at all, so the decor is spartan. If he's not in his lab, he's probably in his office at the headquarters of the Imperial Guard. His office is kept scrupulously neat except for an inexplicable pile of trash in one corner. He also occupies the captain's quarters of his landship, the Tartarus, where he keeps some books but nothing of any particular personal value.

Char's castle is comparatively small for a national capitol, but it's built with several unique construction advantages since it's relatively very new, first and foremost being that it's built half into a mountain. Stone was mined out of the mountain to build curtain walls and exterior buildings (magically reinforced to at least slow down early cannons), and the hollowed-out spaces were leveled, squared, reinforced, and made into effectively an underground keep. Char thus, in addition to living in the middle of an island, has one of the strongest defensive structures he could come up with. Paranoia: not just a roleplaying game.

As for decor and taste, Char's spent a great deal of his personal plunder from his career as an amoral soldier on Zeon, but those things he still owns tend toward the subtly extravagant, comfortable, and of course, red. Guests in his castle are made to feel at home, and there is very seldom not liquor or rare coffee on offer unless the guest is there for serious military business of one kind or another.

As a knight of sorts in Britain's military, Kusuha was granted a small home in Camelot - not as grand as a proper officer's, but then she lives alone and prefers doing all her own housework, so small is perfect. The house is neat and well-kept, if often dusty due to Kusuha being sent somewhere or other. It's almost still new, in fact, as prior to her sudden recruitment Kusuha was a novitiate in the church, and prior to that lived with her parents. What's there is sparse, but tends inevitably toward the...well, the cute, or the frugally elegant. Tasteful amounts of lace, calming colors, a few imported curiosities, that sort of thing. Her two big expenses in furnishing the place was a large, modern bathtub and a pantry full of spices and other things that will keep.

Cecil maintains a room in one of the towers of Zeon's castle. It's fairly spacious with a desk and some tables where he can take his meal, and a bed overlooking the window making it the perfect spot to be wistful and emo. Otherwise it is pretty much lacking in decor.

Souji Okita, along with the rest of the Shinsengumi, lives inside the precinct of a temple. It is surrounded by roofed halls connected with each other and a distinct front gate (yahoo blogs). There are other buildings among the quarters, and outside can also be used for martial arts training. There are different rooms with sliding doors.

An example of a the main building (not IRL Mibu), which has stairs leading up to it.

Caster, using magic mostly, has constructed for himself something of a covert fortress, built inside Death Mountain in Oludon with a relatively inconspicuous entrance. He's not ready to act in the open yet, which is why it's not an over-the-top imposing tower; it is, however, spacious and extravagant on the inside, and heavily protected by barriers and magical traps. The number and ferocity of monsters roaming the mountain, particularly near the entrance to Ganondorf's keep, has increased dramatically lately--that what they're doing is patrolling is not immediately evident, but what is obvious is that it's a lot easier and safer to stay away.
